When Monet traveled to Paris to visit the Louvre, he witnessed painters copying from the old masters. Having brought his paints and other tools with him, he would instead go and sit by a window and paint what he saw. Maybe this window? The painting in this window is my take on one of Monet's. His colors are so soft and pastel so what better than light furniture and  lovely floral patterns every where. Lot's of fun doing all the details in this one.

Monet was in Paris for several years and met other young painters who would become friends and fellow impressionists; among them was  Edwardo Manet.

Monet found subjects in his immediate surroundings, as he painted the people and places he knew best. His first wife, Camille and his second wife, Alice, frequently served as models. His landscapes chart journeys around the north of Franceand to London, where he escaped the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71. Returning to France, Monet moved first to Argenteuil, just fifteen minutes from Paris by train, then west to Vétheuil, Poissy, and finally to the more rural Giverny in 1883. His homes and gardens became gathering places for friends, including Manet  and Renoir, who often painted alongside their host.

Enjoy

The Ladies of Peter Max Exhibit Museum Interior by k Madison Moore

Painting with The Masters

Art Museum Collection Series

11 x 14 Interior Painting by k Madison Moore

I always love painting with Peter Max because his
palette is basically primary brilliant colors. He paints
the prettiest women so I thought an exhibit with them
would be great. He has so many that it was hard to
decide but these are my favorites. Of course the
Baldwin piano that he painted is fascinating  and
fun so great for this exhibit.
Peter loves to paint hearts and I love his work so
much I thought I would include a few in the flooring.

Enjoy
The Ladies of Peter Max Exhibit

Max's art work was first identified as having been a popular part of the counter culture and psychedelic movements in graphic design during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He is known for using intense bursts of color, often containing much or all of the visible spectrum. His work was both influenced by, as well as widely imitated by, others in the field of commercial illustration, such as  Heinz Edelmann. Peter Max' repeated claims, varying in detail, to have worked on "Yellow Submarine" has been denied by the production team.

Interior Painting by k Madison Moore Paintings Dora

Painting Dora Marr on a Paris Afternoon

24 x 36 Interior Oil Painting on Canvas

Commission - Sold
A couple of years ago I painted the painting that the artist is painting
in this painting....whew, that was a mouthful, lol!

The painting was called Dora and Picasso on a Sunday Afternoon. I decided
to use the same painting for this artist but have her painting it in her Paris
Studio with all of her set ups for her painting surrounding her.

I just love the way the tops of the building out of the window continues into the
painting. I placed all the elements she is using close to the one's in her painting.
Look at the hat and glasses on the floor and then right above it they are in the painting.
The same with the watermelon, the lute and the music sheet.

Having all of her fun things around her, books tubes of paint on the floor
and of course her mac laptop at her fingertips is just what an artist does and loves!
Mr Bird in his cage looking over her was a fun touch.

This was great fun but being large format took a loooooog time to paint!
Loved it!

A bit about Doa Marr

Dora Maar was born in Paris, France, on November 22, 1907. When she was 19, she began pursuing the artistic life, studying painting and photography. Her work had begun garnering attention when she met Pablo Picasso, and her life would never be the same. Living in the shadow of the greatest artist of her time, Maar suffered from self-doubt and depression through a nine-year romantic affair with Picasso.

The Parisian Time Capsule Interior Painting by k Madison Moore

In a dusty attic once belonging to a beautiful actress, a beaming portrait by Giovanni Boldini sits hidden for almost 100 years until recently found and revealed by a Parisian auctioneer.

I just fell in love with this whole story and knew right away
that I had to do a painting about it. I love stories of lost art
but this is so different. I cannot imagine!!

The owner of this apartment, Mrs. De Florian left Paris just
before the rumblings of World War II  broke out in Europe.
She closed up her shutters and left for the South of
France, never to return to the city again.

Seven decades later she passed away at the age of 91. It
was only when her heirs enlisted professionals to make
an inventory of the Parisian apartment she left behind,
that this time capsule was finally unlocked.

Marthe de Florian was an actress with a long list of ardent admirers whose fervent love letters she kept wrapped
in neatly ribbon and were still on the premises.

In my painting you can see a slight spirit of Marthe
in the vanity mirror and her love letters in a
ribbon on the stool.

Enjoy
The Parisian Time Capsule

Here's the story

Paris -- When an auctioneer entered a dust-covered old Parisian flat to take inventory of the deceased owner's possessions, he had the impression of creeping into Sleeping Beauty's castle.

In the gloom of the flat that had been shut for decades, he came across a portrait unknown to art experts of a beautiful woman by one of 19-century Paris' most prized portrait artists, Italian Giovanni Boldini.

"There was a smell of old dust," said auctioneer Olivier Choppin-Janvry.

The painting recently fetched EUR 2.1 million (USD 2.9 million) in frenzied bidding, making a record for one of the artist's works.

The flat's last occupant, who was the granddaughter of Boldini's muse, had locked the flat before World War II to go live in the south of France and never returned.

The woman recently died at the age of 91, having paid upkeep fees for the large flat in central Paris for 70 years without using it.

The painting, which had hung in the flat's living room, was the portrait of  an actress of exceptional beauty who went by the name of Marthe de Florian enshrouded in a pale pink mousseline evening dress.

Here are the photos that were my inspiration for this painting

I just received this email from one of my biggest fans and collectors
about this painting.
Just wanted to share it. Thanks so much Tom :)

Check out this painting (‘The Parisian Time Capsule’) by artist extraordinaire K Madison Moore, then read the story behind it.  Then, compare the photo’s to the painting Madison has created, I think it is a VERY cool story, and a great painting, especially when you compare it to the photos!

http://www.kmadisonmooreportfolio.com

I now have four of the artist’s (K Madison Moore) original paintings, though two were VERY generous gifts, one from the artist herself!  I think she is wonderfully talented, and the painting in the link really shows off her creativity so well.

Just thought the story, and Madison’s painting, were too cool not to share with my friends!

BTW, the painting that was a gift from Madison is shown on the same web page as a thumbnail, it is the one titled ‘Lazy Days with Matisse’.  It compliments my first purchase, also an homage to Matisse.  I really love her work, and her paintings that are in my care give me such pleasure every day!

The color pink is the color of universal love of oneself and of others. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability.

Both red and pink represent love. The color red represents heat and passion, while the color pink represents romance and charm. Hot pink is used to communicate playfulness, while light pink is used to communicate tenderness.

How does pink make you feel? Do you associate pink with certain qualities or situations?

Fun with Roy Interior Painting Inspired by Lichtenstein by k Madison Moore

Fun with Roy
Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein

Painting with The Masters

14 x 18 Interior Oil Painting on Canvas

I posted these close up's so you could see that this painting is a painting
within a painting, within a painting, within a painting and again! Yes, four times!!
all the way into the smallest painting of a painting on the wall where you
can see a white pitcher. This was so much fun that if I had the space I would
have done a painting within one more time! lol!

Every time I paint with Roy I wonder how he ever continued to paint
will all those dots and stripes! Then I saw a demo of him painting recently
and realized that he painted huge paintings, some the size of walls. So,
you can just image how big one dot was!

I had a so much fun painting this so the title fits well!

Enjoy
Fun with Roy

American Artist Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York City on October 27, 1923, and grew up on Manhattan's Upper West Side. In the 1960s, Lichtenstein became a leading figure of the new Pop Art movement. Inspired by advertisements and comic strips, Lichtenstein's bright, graphic works parodied American popular culture and the art world itself. He died in New York City on September 29, 1997.
Lichtenstein's best-known work from this period is "Whaam!," which he painted in 1963, using a comic book panel from a 1962 issue of DC Comics' All-American Men of War as his inspiration. Other works of the 1960s featured cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and advertisements for food and household products. He created a large-scale mural of a laughing young woman (adapted from an image in a comic book) for the New York State Pavilion of the 1964 World's Fair in New York City.
