This was a gift for my veterinarian Dr Andrew
Church and his wife Michelle.

I fell in love with this photo (right) as soon
as I saw it. Michelle is a few months pregnant here
and her pups are patiently waiting for Hudson to 
come into the world.

Hudson is now 3 months old.

Modigliani depicted his mistress, Jeanne Hébuterne (1898-1920), in more than twenty works but never in the nude.

In the history of art she is accorded the honorable role of the last but not the least influential muse of Modigliani. Popular literature and cinema repeatedly used her image to give their own view of the life story of the great artist, picturing her as a young girl devoted to her husband. 

The name of Jeanne Hebuteme  is inseparable from that of Amedeo Modigliani, and the surprising and sad truth is that it was her death rather than life that tied them together forever. It is common knowledge that she committed suicide the day after Modigliani’s death and was buried in the same grave. She didn’t live to see her 22nd birthday.

Your collection is really growing!

I had this idea in my head of my Big Hat Ladies

having an afternoon conversation over drinks, when

I thought about Matisse's painting,  La Conversation

that he painted in 1938. 

I thought it would be great with this composition

because the ladies look like they are eavesdropping

on the party. Notice I even included them by giving

them their own drinks, lol!

Matisse is known for mixing many patterns in one 

composition. I love doing this also because it's a challenge.

He not only mixed patterns but many colors together

that you would probably never think of using or would

not want to use together!

It's hard to do but I think I accomplished it here in giving

each lady their own color combinations. Somehow it

always seems to work out. Love the faces I gave them this

time too! So smirky!
